January 1988 to August 1989 - ARABIAN GULF OIL CO. (AGOCO), Benghazi, Libya.
Regional Geologist
Performed NW Libya regional studies utilizing seismic stratigraphy, geochemistry and detailed log analysis to determine potential hydrocarbon generation and possible oil migration fairways. Developed new approaches to using the available Geochemistry, Electric Log and Seismic databases to define geologic models from which stratigraphic plays could be formulated.
Major Accomplishments
- Introduced methods of reviewing maturely explored areas in Libya where the previous discoveries were structural for potential stratigraphic plays utilizing migration fairway theories.
- Wrote software to evaluate stratigraphic plays based on potential as interpreted from geological databases.
March 1986 to December 1987 - CONTINENTAL OIL COMPANY - The Hague, Netherlands
Staff Geologist
Managed the Computer Applications Group and performed geological projects requiring computer technology. Conducted geochemical maturation modeling, Paleo reconstructions and detailed log analyses using the geoscience workstation.
Major Accomplishments
- Determined requirements for a geoscience computer system, recommended the purchase of complete system with peripherals, organized the system applications.
- Managed the Geoscience computer system, which included training of geologists in the use of computer technology and maintaining the software and operating system.
January 1982 to February 1986 - CONTINENTAL OIL COMPANY of INDONESIA
Geologist
Performed formation evaluation of exploration and development wells using core analysis, electric logs and test data. Managed the Geoscience Computer Workstation system including system maintenance and supervision. Conducted training sessions for the professional staff. Coordinated the system operation with headquarters in the USA by satellite link and prepared operating budgets for Indonesian computer applications.
Major Accomplishments
- Set up complete remote computer workstation for formation evaluation in Indonesia after receiving extensive training in Ponca City, OK, USA. Served as System Manager after supervising the initial computer installation.
- Conducted formal training of the professional staff in qualitative and quantitative log analysis and petrophysics.
- Designed logging programs for onshore and offshore exploration and development wells and wireline tool configurations for logging in slim holes.
- Wrote manuals for slim hole log interpretation in carbonates for extensive drilling campaigns in remote Irian Jaya and wrote computer programs to assist in well site log interpretation.
March 1979 to December 1981 - NATIONAL OIL COMPANY of LIBYA, Benghazi, Libya (later merged into AGOCO)
Exploration Geologist
Generated exploration prospects in Northwest Libya after considering geological setting and oil potential criteria. Made recommendations for seismic programs and well locations in mature prospect areas. Evaluated bids on support and service for exploration program. Presented proposals and budgets to management and the Ministry of Petroleum.
Major Accomplishments
- Lead the exploration in northwest Libya program by generating drillable prospects.
- Kept ahead of two seismic crews with seismic programs and three drilling rigs with drillable prospects.
- Responsible for two commercial discoveries, Hamada AA-1/7 and CC-1 NC7, which are presently being produced.
April 1973 to February 1979 - AMOCO - Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Well Site Geologist
Supervised well site work in the Bergen concession and in Amoco's offshore blocks. Responsible for scouting, monitoring mining legislation, farmout documentation and final reports from exploration wells. Received extensive training in structural and petroleum geology and became proficient in log analysis.
July 1971 to March 1973 - BAROID INTERNATIONAL, INC., Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Advanced Drilling Technology (ADT) Engineer
Performed mud logging and drilling fluid analysis for offshore (deepwater) drilling programs for operators in the North Sea and offshore West Africa.
December 1970 to June 1971 - NATIONAL NICKEL CO., South Africa and Zaire
Mining Prospector
Supervised soil sampling team and drafted reports on results as part of exploration program. In charge of administration in remote areas including payrolls and camp organization.
June 1968 to November 1970 - GEOSERVICES, INC., Paris, France
Assistant Geologist
Performed mud logging services for operators in France, Iran, Egypt and Algeria.
